FAQs
That is a great question! After all, my newborn studio is located in the Seattle area.
I first came to NYC to visit my in-laws for Thanksgiving, and we went to see the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade straight from the airport. I can’t say it was love at first sight, but the city gradually grew on me over the next few trips. Over the last decade, New York has become my home away from home, and at one point, I developed a strong desire to leave a mark on the city by photographing newborns and their families. I am very fortunate that I get to create art in the city that I love.
Here is an overview of the entire process and what you can expect from working with me:
- Pre-Booking: You begin by learning about my services. I am a big believer in transparency and helpfulness. That’s why I explain my services in great detail on my website. I display my prices, add-ons, deliverables, and timeframes online so you know them beforehand, and there are no surprises. I have published thousands of photos in my portfolio and blog sections so that you can get a good feel for my style. And if you still have any questions before booking, I’m only a quick message away.
- Booking: I’ve designed my scheduling process to be fast and hassle-free, ensuring your ease. You start by heading to my booking page, picking your date from my calendar, filling out a short form, and paying your $500 non-refundable deposit.
- Session Prep: After I receive your booking, I will review it and email you a detailed prep guide within 1-2 business days. I am also available to answer any questions via email or text.
- Confirming the Date of Your Session: Once your baby arrives, you will email me to let me know everything is on schedule. Finally, you will receive an invoice for the remaining balance of your session a day before your session.
- The Session: We meet at your home and have a relaxed session. While I follow a specific session plan, I will adjust based on the baby’s mood—whether they are asleep, awake, and happy, or not having it and needing a break. We will spend as much time as necessary feeding and changing the baby or waiting for them to be in the right mood. I will direct and guide your family so you never have to worry about what to do.
- After the Session: You will receive your proof gallery of about 70–100 images within five days after your session. From this gallery, you will select the 25 images included in the price of your session. After you see your proof gallery, you may decide on any upgrades. Please reply with your picks within seven days of receiving your gallery. After I receive your picks, I will deliver the final edited photos within seven days.
- Beyond the Session: I am grateful and honored that you’ve picked me to help document and celebrate the birth of your child. My mission is to help you create a collection of meaningful family photos through the years. I hope you will find my online resources and updates useful. You will also get priority access to all of my additional offerings.
The ideal time to photograph a newborn is five days to four weeks after birth. I recommend booking your session two to three months before your due date to ensure availability, as I cannot accommodate last-minute bookings.
I travel to NYC once a month. My availability is posted here. When scheduling, please pick a date 1–4 weeks after your due date. This should cover most situations, even if your baby arrives early or late.
I have photographed thousands of families, which has allowed me to develop a relaxed and enjoyable session flow. I will guide, prompt, and direct you the entire time, so you don't have to worry about a thing. I aim for natural-looking poses while catching a few candids as well.
After completing your booking, you will receive an email with prep info and styling tips to help you look your best for the session.
But in general, I would recommend more comfortable home clothes for the parents (that you won’t mind in photos years later). Neutrals, whites, grays, blacks, and nudes are great for a clean look while keeping the focus on skin tones. A simple, clean white onesie or a romper is great for the baby.
Please do not worry about your house not being in tip-top shape. We’ll do most of the photos in front of windows, in the baby’s nursery if it’s already set up, and in your bedroom.
I offer in-home newborn sessions from Lower Manhattan to 110th Street to save on traveling time. I also travel to several neighborhoods in Brooklyn, including Brooklyn Heights, DUMBO, and Cobble Hill.
Your newborn session includes 25 hand-edited images. After your session, when you see the proof gallery, you will have the option to purchase additional hand-edited photos. They are available at $20 per photo. Information on purchasing additional images will be included with your online proof gallery.
In addition, a full gallery upgrade is available for $200. It includes all the images in your proof gallery with a standard color edit. (See also the next question for more information about the difference between hand editing and standard editing.)
All photos will be in full print resolution with print rights, allowing you to print as many photos as you like to decorate your home and gift to family and friends.
Standard (color) editing includes an overall color adjustment to make the photos appear brighter, more colorful, and properly exposed.
In addition to the standard edit, hand editing is more detailed and includes basic skin smoothing, removal of blemishes, bruises, and a few flyaways, as well as more detailed color adjustments. This type of edit is ideal for photos you intend to print and for heirlooms.
Every photographer has a unique style, feel, and aesthetic in their photos. Before booking a session with me, I want to ensure that you resonate with my work so that I can meet your expectations and deliver photos you’ll love. That’s why I’ve put together a large collection of sample in-home newborn photos on this page so you can get a feel for my style. In addition, you can view more of my in-home newborn photos here.

The remaining balance is due at the time of the session. An invoice reminder will be emailed to you a day before your session. The proof gallery is delivered after the payment is made in full.
You will receive your online proof gallery within five days after your session. You will have seven days to pick your images for the detailed hand-edit. Seven days after you submit your selections, your edited photos will be delivered via an online gallery.
If it takes you longer than seven days to pick your images, I may require more than seven days to submit your final photos.
If you purchase the full gallery upgrade, you will receive the download link within 48 hours of payment.
