Featured Gallery #1 & Location Options for Your Maternity Session
The first step after you book is to pick a location for your outdoor maternity session. A great location is one of the keys to having a successful maternity photoshoot. I make this super easy for you. All you have to do is pick a location from my meticulously vetted list.
I hand-pick my Seattle locations based on the following qualities:
- Beauty: I have photographed countless sessions in each of these locations and know firsthand that these locations look beautiful in photos.
- Theme: I pick locations with pronounced themes (e.g., mountains, forests, beaches, fields, and wildflowers) that offer a variety of looks.
- Convenience: The locations I picked are convenient for pregnant moms and younger children. I considered the drive to the location, the walk from the parking area to the spot where we will be shooting, amenities like a bathroom, and crowds.
- Fun factor: I picked locations that are fun, playful, engaging, and inspirational.
The family in this gallery picked Snoqualmie Pass for their summer maternity session. This location is available from late spring to fall and offers a beautiful PNW backdrop of mountain views, trees, flowers, and fields.
Tip:

The second part of this package is the newborn session in your home. This session is an excellent option if you don’t want to drive to a studio after giving birth and want the comfort and convenience of your home.
The familiar setting of your home could also help younger siblings be more relaxed and at ease, allowing us to capture more candid photos.
Featured Gallery #2 & What to Wear
Another important aspect of a successful maternity session is your wardrobe. You want to be comfortable and relaxed. If it is something new, wear it at home to get used to it. Watch out for bra and underwear lines. Casual dresses are usually more comfortable than maternity gowns. You can have more movement and posing variations with a dress than with a maternity gown, especially a form-fitting one.
I will provide you with a detailed prep guide that includes an online styling service that will help you look your best for your pregnancy photos. I am also available through email and text if you need any additional help with styling your session.
There is plenty of time for an outfit change if you want to wear more than one dress.
The photos below are from a fall maternity session in Redmond, WA. I love this location for its beautiful fields, available during any season.
When it comes to dressing for your lifestyle in-home newborn session, I recommend comfortable home clothes for the parents and siblings (that you won’t mind in photos years later). Neutrals, whites, grays, blacks, and nudes are great for a clean look and to keep the focus on skin tones. For the infant, a simple, clean white onesie or a romper is great.
Featured Gallery #3 & Scheduling Tips
Having a maternity photoshoot during the fall and winter months in Seattle means that there is a chance of rain. But don’t despair—the weather changes quickly, and all we need is a short window of time for your session. I typically wait until the day of the session to get the most accurate forecast and decide if we need to reschedule due to rain. With this approach, I can go through with most sessions.
However, when scheduling your maternity session, I still recommend allowing an extra week if we need to reschedule due to rain.
Here is a beautiful maternity session that was shot in Redmond in November.

When it comes to scheduling your newborn session, I am very flexible if your baby comes early or late. I pencil you in for your due date, and when your baby is born, we will schedule an actual shoot date, usually within 5 days to three weeks after birth.
Featured Gallery #4 & Tips for Older Siblings
When an older sibling joins the session, connect with them on the day and drive to the photoshoot. Focus on the moment and reflect on your journey. When couples and families are connected, interactions during a photoshoot become a natural extension of their bond.
Here is a fun maternity session with an older sibling that was shot at Rattlesnake Lake in North Bend, WA. This beautiful PNW location offers mountain views, trees, a beach, and a lake. The best part is that it is only a 30–40-minute drive from Seattle and Bellevue.
Your newborn photoshoot can take up to two hours. While I follow a specific session plan, I will adjust based on the baby’s mood—whether they are asleep, awake, and happy, or not having it and needing a break. We will spend as much time as necessary feeding and changing the infant or waiting for them to be in the right mood.

To book your package, you’ll start by picking the date for your maternity session from my calendar. The ideal time for your maternity photoshoot is when you are between 28 and 32 weeks pregnant, but I am happy to work around your schedule. I recommend booking at least a month in advance to give yourself time to prepare. You’ll pick the location for your maternity session after you book your session.
